There's nothing like a hot cocktail to warm up on a chilly night - whether or not there's a holiday party!

Cinnamon Toast

Thank you to thebar.com for the use of their recipe.

  • 1.25 oz. Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
  • 6 oz. hot apple cider
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon

Combine the apple cider and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum in a glass rimmed with the sugar and cinnamon.

Mistletoe and Holly Cocktail

  • 1 1/2 cups 100% cranberry juice
  • 2 oz. white creme de cacao
  • 2 oz. peppermint schnapps
  • For garnish:
  • Whipped cream
  • Matcha powder
  • 12 fresh cranberries

Pour cranberry juice into a small saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Lower heat, then add creme de cacao and peppermint schnapps. Stir to blend, and heat for one minute. Pour the hot mixture into footed glass mugs. To garnish, spear three cranberries onto each of four bamboo skewers or heatproof swizzle sticks. Place a skewer in each cup, add a dollop of whipped cream and a dusting of matcha.

Kentucky Mulled Cider

  • 1 shot Kentucky bourbon
  • hot apple cider
  • dash of Allspice

Place the bourbon in a footed mug. Fill mug with hot apple cider and a dash of allspice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a lemon slice.

Hot Coconut Milk

This recipe is a great choice for those with a sweet tooth. It's sweet, smooth, and creamy. The recipe serves two.

  • 1 13.5 ounce can coconut milk (not cream of coconut or concentrate)
  • 1/2 cup chopped white chocolate
  • 1 tsp. brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 oz. Grand Marnier

Pour coconut milk into saucepan. Add regular milk and brown sugar, and heat thoroughly. When hot, add the chopped white chocolate, stirring until smooth. Pour into mugs and add Grand Marnier. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Kentucky Coffee

  • 1 oz. Kentucky bourbon
  • 1 oz. Starbucks Cream Liqueur
  • splash of Frangelico
  • hot coffee

Pour the bourbon and Starbucks Liqueur into a footed mug. Add Frangelico, and top off with hot coffee. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream.

Tom & Jerry

This classic warm toddy is a little more work, but it's well worth the effort. The recipe calls for water, milk, or coffee, but most aficionados swear by hot milk. And unlike many recipes, it serves four, not a crowd.

  • 3 egg whites
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 tbls. powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 3/4 oz. brandy
  • 1 1/2 oz. dark rum
  • hot water, milk, or coffee
  • grated nutmeg

Beat the eggs whites until they are a stiff froth. Separately beat the egg yolks until they're light in color. Gradually beat sugar, allspice, cinnamon and cloves into the yolk mixture. Fold the yolk mixture into the whites.

Put 2 tablespoons of the egg mixture into each mug, then add the brandy and rum. Fill the mugs very carefully with hot water, milk, or coffee, and be rewarded with a thin layer of delicate, fluffy foam, similar to a cappuccino. Sprinkle with nutmeg.

Tequila CranApple Toddy

This quick and easy recipe serves 4-6. Use the basic version, or add cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg while heating the juice to spice things up a little.

  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • 1/4 cup triple sec (or other orange liqueur)

In a saucepan, heat the apple cider and cranberry juice cocktail just until steaming, but do not boil. Remove from heat, and stir in tequila and orange liqueur. Serve in mugs, garnished with lime or orange slices.

Bourbon or whisky based recipes are also great for the holidays!
