You enjoy a nice dinner, a good dessert, and then you have to decide whether to have the after dinner coffee or the after dinner drink. Sure, you could try to split the difference – maybe an Irish coffee, or maybe something with Kahlua, like a Black Russian. Or now you can have a martini made with either Espresso or Double Espresso Vodka.
Holland’s VanGogh Vodka introduced the two new flavors in late 2006, and they’ve quickly become top sellers. It’s no wonder – VanGogh makes some of the smoothest of the top shelf vodkas available, and both flavors live up to the high standards.
Referring to them as coffee flavored vodkas almost seems to be unfair. Fresh roasted coffee beans are infused with the vodka in a six week process, and the result tastes and smells amazingly like coffee. It also has the jolt of coffee! One shot of Double Espresso has roughly the same amount of caffeine as three shots of espresso; the Espresso Vodka has about half as much. Who needs to pour their vodka into an energy drink?
These vodkas would be good in almost any drink that has a coffee flavor, or for that matter, with flavors that would be good with coffee. But there are a couple of drinks that just seem to be outstanding choices.
